Sarah MacGregor The most incredible thing for me is the fact that this was made in 1981. How primitive some other genres sounded at that time compared to this. Favorite track: Round 6.

about

More in the set of official releases of the classic early eighties dub albums featuring King Tubby's young engineer Scientist at the controls, in this case trading round for round with Prince Jammy's. These albums have been unavailable in official form for many, many years, here they are released as double CD albums; the original Big Showdown dub on disc one, ingeniously coupled with a new compilation of all the vocal counterparts, in this case from Barrington Levy, to the dub tracks on disc two. Scientist and Jammy's mix the Roots Radics backing tracks into dubwise oblivion, and the combination of the vocals is a masterstroke.
